DENVER, Colo. – Denver police arrested a woman in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on July 12.
The collision occurred Saturday morning on southbound Interstate 25 just north of the West Alameda Avenue exit when a vehicle struck a man changing a tire on the right shoulder.
Carlos Mercado Arzola, 52, was changing a flat tire when he was struck and killed. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
A witness followed the suspect’s vehicle after the crash and photographed the license plate. The witness provided the license plate information to dispatchers. Denver Police identified the suspect vehicle as a black Toyota 4Runner with severe damage on the front passenger’s side. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a Medina Alert for a 2016 4Runner with license plate ARF H65.
Marisol Infante, 29, was arrested Wednesday and is being held for investigation of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. She turned herself in at a Boulder police station around 4:30 a.m.
Police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
