SANTA ANA, CA (July 14, 2026) — A 43-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed Tuesday morning in a motorcycle accident in Santa Ana after a vehicle reportedly changed lanes and collided with his motorcycle.

The impact ejected Williams from the motorcycle. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the driver involved or whether any citations or charges are pending. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Fatal motorcycle accidents continue to be a major traffic concern in California.

According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, 583 motorcyclists were killed in crashes in 2023, an increase of nearly 19% from just four years ago. Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney, said that many motorcycle crashes are preventable and are frequently caused by negligent passenger vehicle drivers. Bond emphasized that in cases like this, an independent investigation conducted by an experienced attorney is essential to help protect the rights of the victim’s family.

“Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the road, and several factors can play a role in fatal crashes,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and national analyst with Accident Injury News. “Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists often cause these types of collisions. An attorney has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct drivers’ background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage, while carefully guiding the grieving family of the victim through the legal process and vigorously protecting their best interests.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Calvin Williams may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will remain informed about the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests are protected. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”
