BOSSIER, La. — A motorcyclist died and a woman faces charges following a three-vehicle crash on Airline Drive near N. Willow Drive on July 5.
Byron Smith, age 41, of Shreveport, was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle making a right turn. Louisiana State Police reported that a 24-year-old woman was traveling south on Airline in the left lane when she turned right into a private driveway.
The woman’s vehicle struck both Smith’s motorcycle in the right lane and a vehicle exiting the driveway. No other injuries were reported in the collision.
Police suspected the driver was impaired and arrested her on charges of vehicular homicide, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to yield.
The crash remains under investigation by state police.
