Sheriffs: Bruce Peterson Injured, Passenger Dies in Seneca Crash

SENECA, NY, (July 05, 2026) – Authorities identified a driver hospitalized following a fatal crash Sunday morning in the Town of Seneca, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Bruce Eric Peterson, 65, of Cicero, was driving a Subaru west on Kashong Switch Road at approximately 11:15 a.m. when it collided with a Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 41-year-old Farmington man traveling southbound on Wabash Road.

Peterson was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with facial and back injuries.

An unidentified passenger in Peterson’s vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Jetta was evaluated at the scene but did not require additional medical treatment.

TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said that in cases such as this, an independent investigation should be conducted to help protect a victim’s rights.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision.”

Vehicle crashes injure roughly 1.9 million people every year in the United States. Speeding; the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to stay in the proper lane; failure to yield the right of way; and distracted driving are typical causes of such crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and victims must be ensured that evidence is reviewed in an efficient manner,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney will carefully examine what may have contributed to the crash and has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct driver background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide accident victims during this difficult time, while protecting their legal rights and best interests.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, Bruce Eric Peterson may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim for damages covering medical and rehabilitation costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.

“Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of various expenses,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. “Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes.”
