Brooklyn Park Hit-and-Run Collision Kills Pedestrian Amiah Walker

BROOKLYN PARK, MN (May 19, 2026) — The Minnesota State Patrol and Brooklyn Park Police Department are searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning on southbound Highway 252 in Brooklyn Park.

According to MSP, the incident occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. near the area between Brookdale Avenue and 73rd Avenue. Authorities said a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the right lane veered toward the shoulder where two people had stopped and were attempting to persuade a woman to get into their vehicle.

Investigators said the oncoming vehicle struck the woman before fleeing the scene without stopping.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Amiah Armstrong Walker. Emergency responders pronounced Walker dead at the scene.

Troopers believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash, although additional details have not been released.

Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a dark gray Toyota RAV4 and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators anonymously as the West Metro District investigation continues.

FATAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Leaving the scene of a collision is a criminal offense, yet statistics show that hit-and-run crashes continue to occur frequently across U.S. roadways.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said that in cases such as this, it is critical for victims and their families to seek an independent investigation from an experienced attorney as soon as possible to help protect their legal rights.

“Having the proper resources is essential when investigating a hit-and-run crash and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“Roadway conditions, visibility issues, and lighting are among the many possible contributing factors that must be carefully reviewed and analyzed,” Bond added.

These investigative measures are important in helping families who have lost a loved one in a hit-and-run accident pursue justice and obtain financial compensation for their losses.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of the victim may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“The grief and emotional hardship following the loss of a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the difficult challenges families face after such a tragedy, and protecting their legal rights is extremely important. A wrongful death attorney can remain informed on the official investigation while helping safeguard the family’s best interests and legal rights.”
