Brent Reynolds held in Marshall accident that killed driver

MARSHALL, MO, (April 28, 2026) – A 65-year-old woman was killed Tuesday in a high-speed crash in Marshall, leading to multiple criminal charges against a local driver.

According to police, the victim, who has not yet been identified, was operating a Ford Focus on South Odell Avenue when her vehicle was struck by a Ford Bronco driven by 42-year-old Brent Reynolds.

Investigators reported that Reynolds was traveling approximately 110 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone at the time of the collision. The impact proved fatal, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities arrested Reynolds and charged him with first-degree involuntary manslaughter, two counts of armed criminal action, second-degree assault, reckless driving, speeding, failure to stop at a crosswalk, not having insurance, and not having license plates.

The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Speeding is a dangerous form of reckless driving that places everyone on the road at serious risk.

Driving at excessive speeds reduces a driver’s reaction time, increases stopping distance, and weakens the effectiveness of safety measures built into roadways. The National Safety Council reports that speeding contributed to 29% of all traffic deaths in 2022, resulting in 12,151 fatalities.

Regardless of the outcome of the official investigation, Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, emphasized the importance of retaining an attorney to conduct an independent investigation to preserve evidence and protect the rights of a victim’s family.

“Beyond the work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-examine key witness statements, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records from the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “An attorney can also serve as an advocate, helping guide grieving families while ensuring their legal rights and best interests are protected.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

As the investigation continues, the family of the victim killed in this crash may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other related hardships resulting from such a tragic incident.

“The emotional toll after losing a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “We understand the difficulties families face during this time, and protecting their rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation and help ensure that their legal interests are fully represented.”
