WSP: Bradley Denton killed in Yakima semi-truck collision

YAKIMA, WA (April 5, 2026) – A 33-year-old man was killed after being struck by a semi-truck while crossing Interstate 82 in Yakima Sunday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Officials identified the victim as Bradley Denton, a Yakima resident.

Authorities said Denton was crossing the eastbound lanes near the Yakima Avenue exit at approximately 2:30 p.m. when he was hit by an eastbound semi-truck. He died from injuries sustained in the crash.

No charges have been announced. The incident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Even a crash at low speed can result in devastating injuries or fatalities for pedestrians who lack protection like airbags or seat belts. In 2023, there were 4,354 deaths involving large trucks, with 17% being pedestrians, bicyclists, or motorcyclists, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Candice Bond, a seasoned pedestrian accident attorney, noted that such crashes are frequently linked to distracted driving, negligence, speeding, or failure to yield.

Multiple factors can contribute to tractor-trailer collisions, including loss of vehicle control, tire blowouts, excessive speed, lane drifting, improper maneuvering, and driver fatigue.

“Tractor-trailer crashes are often complex, involving numerous contributing elements,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“An attorney can support victims by hiring expert witnesses, reviewing driver histories, locating witnesses, and analyzing insurance coverage, while guiding families through the legal process.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Bradley Denton may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident.

“The stress and sorrow can be overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We recognize the hardships families endure, and ensuring their rights are protected is critical. A wrongful death attorney will remain updated on the investigation and help safeguard their legal rights and best interests,” he added.
