Bloomfield woman hurt in Stoddard County collision, MSHP says

STODDARD, MO, (April 27, 2026) – A Bloomfield woman was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 60 near Dexter in Stoddard County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. when a northbound 2017 Jeep Compass failed to yield and collided with an eastbound 2015 Nissan Altima.

Authorities said the 21-year-old Bloomfield woman driving the Nissan sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment.

A 22-year-old Bloomfield man who was a passenger in the Nissan suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. The 81-year-old woman driving the Jeep was reported to have sustained serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the MSHP.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

When a motorist has the right-of-way, other drivers are required to yield, ensuring safe movement through intersections.

According to Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, failure-to-yield crashes are commonly linked to driver negligence. Contributing factors often include impatience, reckless behavior, and distracted driving. It is estimated that nearly 40 percent of collisions occur at intersections.

“It is essential to determine the precise cause of these accidents. An attorney has the ability to review insurance policies, consult expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We guide families through every step of the process,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Beyond the initial police report, an attorney will examine all contributing elements,” Bond added. “Legal professionals can work with experts, review driver histories, locate witnesses, and assess insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney helps injury victims navigate what can be a complex process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Individuals injured in crashes often pursue personal injury claims to recover expenses related to medical care, future treatment, lost wages, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often not fully responsive to the financial burden faced by injured victims. Legal representation can play a key role. We work to protect victims and ensure insurance companies are held accountable,” he added.
