CRAWFORD, OH, (May 02, 2026) – Two men sustained serious injuries in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Crawford County, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on U.S. 30, east of Ohio 598. Investigators said a 2002 Hyundai Tucson attempted to pass a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer when the driver lost control.
Authorities reported that the Hyundai entered the westbound lane before coming to rest on the shoulder. The Freightliner slowed abruptly to avoid the vehicle, resulting in a 2015 Dodge Caravan striking the truck’s left rear.
Blake McWilliams, 31, of Mansfield, and David Thompson, 54, of Ashland, were passengers in the Caravan and suffered serious injuries. Both men were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
A 50-year-old Mansfield woman, also a passenger in the Caravan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Caravan and three additional passengers were also taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Two juvenile passengers sustained minor injuries. No injuries were reported for the occupants of the Hyundai or the Freightliner driver.
The Crawford County Prosecutor is reviewing evidence as the investigation remains ongoing.
