Blake Barker killed in Florida motorcycle vs SUV crash, FHP says

BONITA SPRINGS, FL, (April 25, 2026) – An 18-year-old Fort Myers man was killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash involving an SUV in Bonita Springs, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities said Blake Barker was riding a motorcycle northbound on Imperial Parkway approaching East Terry Street when it collided with a southbound SUV attempting to make a left turn. Investigators reported that the SUV entered directly into the motorcycle’s path.

The front of the motorcycle struck the front right side of the SUV.

Barker was pronounced dead at the scene. A 55-year-old Bonita Springs woman, who was a passenger in the SUV, also died from injuries sustained in the crash. The SUV driver, a 65-year-old Bonita Springs man, was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

Friends described Barker as someone who brought energy to every room he entered.

The crash remains under investigation.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

The FHP continues to investigate the crash. Residents say this stretch of roadway has been the site of numerous accidents and remains a safety concern.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of thorough independent investigations following serious crashes. Such inquiries evaluate all contributing factors, including driver behavior, possible impairment, and roadway conditions.

Motorcyclists remain particularly vulnerable on U.S. roads. Due to their smaller size, motorcycles are often less visible to other drivers, placing riders at significant risk in collisions.

“Motorcycle accident victims injured due to a negligent driver may pursue a personal injury claim to recover damages,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In cases where negligence leads to a fatality, surviving family members may be entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit.”

Bond added, “While financial compensation cannot replace a loved one, securing legal representation is critical. A wrongful death attorney helps families navigate the aftermath of a tragic loss and work toward restoring a sense of normalcy.”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcyclists were 27 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, family members of Blake Barker may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. They may seek compensation for loss of companionship, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following such a sudden tragedy.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, highlighted the importance of legal representation in these cases.

“The grief and hardship can be overwhelming when a loved one is lost in an accident,” Formica said. “We understand the challenges families face, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and help safeguard the family’s legal interests.”
