BISCAYNE BAY, FL, (March 25, 2026) – A fatal hit-and-run boating crash Wednesday night in Biscayne Bay claimed the life of a North Miami man and left his teenage son injured.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), a 20- to 30-foot dark blue vessel struck a seven-foot dinghy around 8:11 p.m. in the Meloy Channel near Indian Creek and Biscayne Point.
Davide Veglia, 55, was critically injured and transported to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died. His 14-year-old son suffered injuries, including a broken arm, and was hospitalized.
Authorities said the larger boat fled the scene and was last seen heading northbound. The FWC continues to search for the suspect and urges anyone with information to call 888-404-FWCC.
