MONROE, La. – Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred just before 9 p.m. on July 8 north of Louisiana Highway 855.
Billie Myers, 28, of Oak Grove, and James Washington, 59, of Epps, died in the head-on collision. An 18-year-old driver crossed the centerline while traveling north on Louisiana Highway 17.
Her GMC Terrain struck the victims’ vehicle head-on in the opposite lane. Myers was not wearing a seatbelt and died at a local hospital. Washington also was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained moderate injuries. EMS transported her to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators collected routine toxicology samples from all parties involved. Louisiana State Police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
