FATAL SEMI-TRUCK ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Even with extensive training requirements, semi-truck drivers can make critical errors that lead to devastating crashes like the one that claimed Mr. Morris’s life.

Data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) shows that driver-related factors were involved in 2,554 of the 7,368 fatal semi-truck crashes recorded over a recent two-year period, accounting for 34.7 percent. Several issues may contribute to such collisions, including loss of vehicle control, tire blowouts, mechanical failures, speeding, unsafe lane changes, improper maneuvers, and driver fatigue.

Candice Bond, an experienced semi-truck accident attorney, explained that these types of cases require thorough and resource-intensive investigations.

“An experienced attorney can protect a victim’s family from trucking companies, which often dispatch their own investigators and have significant resources to defend negligent drivers,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News.

“Legal representation can help families by securing expert testimony, reviewing driver histories, identifying witnesses, and analyzing insurance coverage, all while ensuring their rights and interests are protected throughout the legal process,” she added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Wade Hampton Morris III may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members may seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages following such a tragic incident.

“The grief and emotional burden after losing a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We understand the difficulties families face during these times, and protecting their rights is crucial. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation closely and help ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are fully protected,” he added.
