MINNEAPOLIS, MN, (April 20, 2026) — A bicyclist lost his life early Monday morning following a collision with a passenger vehicle in Minneapolis, according to the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD).
Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. along Hiawatha Avenue near East 35th Street. A Ford Edge traveling southbound struck a man riding a bicycle under circumstances that remain under investigation.
The victim, described as a man in his 50s, was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to those injuries.
Police reported that the driver fled the scene following the crash. Investigators later identified a suspect as 23-year-old Diallo Greer. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide. Officials also indicated that impairment is believed to be a contributing factor in the incident.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine the full sequence of events.
