Bicyclist killed; Aurie Saez Morales sought in hit-and-run crash

GREENACRES, FL, (April 20, 2026) — A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Monday morning in Greenacres, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

Authorities said the unidentified victim was riding westbound in the bicycle lane on 10th Avenue North near Perry Avenue at approximately 5:30 a.m. when they were struck by a Kia Sorento.

Investigators allege the vehicle was driven by Aurie Saez Morales, who fled the scene following the collision. The bicyclist died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

PBSO officials later identified the suspect vehicle using debris recovered from the scene. Morales has since been identified as the driver involved.

The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather details related to the incident.

FATAL HIT-AND-RUN CRASH INVESTIGATION

Florida traffic laws clearly require drivers to stop immediately at the scene of any crash involving property damage, injury, or loss of life.

However, according to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, in 2023 there were 104,273 hit-and-run crashes statewide, resulting in 271 fatalities and 871 injuries. Many drivers flee due to intoxication, lack of a valid license, or fear of legal consequences.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, stressed that in incidents like this, an independent investigation is essential to protect the victim’s family.

“Having the right resources is vital to thoroughly examine a hit-and-run case and establish negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News. “Elements such as road conditions, signage visibility, and lighting must all be carefully reviewed. These steps are critical in helping families seek justice and financial compensation after such a tragic loss.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of the victim killed in this accident may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Loved ones of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages following a devastating accident.

“We recognize the immense hardship families endure after losing a loved one, and ensuring their rights are protected is crucial,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and work to safeguard the family’s best interests.”

Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic incident.
