MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ill. — Two people died in a fatal collision at a McCracken County intersection on the afternoon of June 4.
The deadly crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bleich Road and Elmdale Road. Multiple agencies responded.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 76-year-old man was driving on Elmdale Road when he ran a stop sign and collided with the side of a pickup truck in the intersection.
The driver and his passenger, 71-year-old Beverly Kenney, sustained critical injuries in the impact. They were transported to an area hospital where they succumbed to injuries.
The pickup truck’s driver, a 57-year-old Metropolis man, was also hospitalized following the crash. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged from medical care.
Responding agencies included Mercy Regional Ambulance, Hendron Fire Department, McCracken County DES, Bailey’s Towing, and McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton.
