RITZVILLE, WA (April 17, 2026) – A 77-year-old woman from Lind, identified as Betty Harris, was killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Ritzville.
According to investigators, Harris was driving southbound on U.S. Route 395 near milepost 91 at approximately 3:36 p.m. when her vehicle came to a stop in the roadway. Authorities said a second vehicle, driven by a 55-year-old woman from Ellensburg, failed to stop and struck the rear of Harris’ vehicle.
The impact caused both vehicles to roll. Harris, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, about five miles south of Ritzville.
The other driver was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Both vehicles, a Honda Civic and a Toyota Tundra, were totaled and removed from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
