Benjamin Alvarez Hurt After Scion Flees Spokane Valley Crash

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA — June 6, 2026 — A 19-year-old Clarkston man sustained injuries Saturday following a hit-and-run crash in Spokane Valley, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Authorities identified the victim as Benjamin Alvarez, who was operating a Subaru Impreza at the time of the incident. According to the WSP, Alvarez was making a right turn from Sprague Avenue onto State Route 27 when his vehicle was struck by a Toyota Scion whose driver had failed to stop at a red traffic light.

Following the collision, both the driver and a passenger in the Toyota Scion abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. No arrests have been announced at this time.

The Washington State Patrol has opened an investigation into the incident. The case remains active, and no further details have been released by authorities.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects or the circumstances of the crash is urged to contact the Washington State Patrol.

HIT-AND-RUN CRASH INVESTIGATION

Under the law, any driver involved in a collision is required to remain at the scene until law enforcement arrives.

Despite this legal obligation, data shows that more than one hit-and-run crash takes place every minute across U.S. roads. Suspects frequently flee the scene because they are intoxicated, operating a vehicle without a valid license, or fear arrest if they stay.

Candice Bond, a seasoned hit-and-run accident attorney, emphasized that in situations like this, it is critical to quickly launch an independent investigation through an experienced attorney in order to protect the rights of the victim.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping someone who has been injured at the hands of a hit-and-run driver receive the justice and monetary compensation that they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Benjamin Alvarez may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the anxiety and hardship following a serious injury can be completely overwhelming, affecting every area of life, including family relationships, employment, financial stability, and overall quality of life.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” Formica added. “Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
