Ashley Ramirez De los Santos Corona killed in Texas semi rollover

WICHITA, TX (April 18, 2026) — A rollover crash involving a commercial vehicle claimed two lives early Saturday in Wichita County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Authorities said a 2020 Peterbilt hauling a 2021 Wilson semi-trailer was traveling southeast on U.S. Highway 287 near Iowa Park at approximately 12:29 a.m. when the driver veered off the right side of the roadway.

Officials reported that the driver overcorrected, causing the truck to overturn and strike a guardrail.

A passenger, 31-year-old Ashley Ramirez De los Santos Corona of Thomasville, Georgia, was killed in the crash.

The 43-year-old driver from Alabama also sustained fatal injuries. DPS noted that weather conditions were poor, with strong winds and wet roadways at the time of the incident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

A fully loaded tractor-trailer can weigh as much as 80,000 pounds, and when such a vehicle overturns, the consequences are often severe.

The National Safety Council (NSC) estimates that around 150,000 individuals are injured in large truck accidents annually. Sadly, these incidents also result in approximately 4,900 fatalities each year, highlighting the need for heightened safety awareness and stricter industry standards.

Candice Bond, an experienced commercial accident attorney, emphasized that conducting an independent investigation promptly is crucial to safeguarding the rights of victims.

“Crashes involving commercial vehicles are often complicated, with multiple contributing factors,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“An experienced attorney can help protect victims from trucking companies, which frequently deploy their own investigators and have extensive resources to defend negligent drivers.

“Legal counsel can support victims by retaining expert witnesses, performing background checks on drivers, identifying witnesses, and reviewing insurance coverage, all while guiding them carefully through the legal process.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Ashley Ramirez De los Santos Corona may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following such tragic incidents.

“The grief and emotional toll after losing a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We understand the difficulties families face, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and help safeguard their legal interests.”

“An attorney can also shield families from large insurance companies and their legal teams while thoroughly reviewing the facts of the case. Legal representation ensures that the family’s rights are protected and that they receive proper advocacy during this difficult time.”
