MIAMI, FL, (April 18, 2026) – A 22-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly fleeing from police on a dirt bike and striking a pedestrian on a Wynwood sidewalk, authorities said.
According to Miami police, officers on foot patrol observed a large تجمع of ATVs and dirt bikes blocking traffic at N.W. Second Avenue and N.W. 26th Street. When officers approached Chamari Pippins, he allegedly accelerated on a Yamaha dirt bike without a license tag in an attempt to evade them.
Police said Pippins lost control of the bike, striking a pedestrian standing on the sidewalk before crashing into a parked vehicle. The victim sustained a fractured right elbow along with lacerations to the left eyelid and foot and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the pedestrian’s identity.
Investigators reported that Pippins was found in possession of a handgun equipped with an extended magazine containing 30 rounds. He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing and eluding causing injury, possession of a weapon during the commission of an offense, resisting an officer without violence, failure to obey a police officer, and failure to register a vehicle.
The Miami Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
