LOS ANGELES, CA (June 20, 2026) — A 77-year-old street vendor remains hospitalized after a vehicle struck his tamale stand in Los Angeles, leaving him with multiple serious injuries, according to police.
Authorities said Arnulfo Hernandez was selling tamales with his wife on Maple Street on June 20 when a vehicle hit the stand and struck him. Hernandez sustained multiple fractures, including breaks to both sides of his hip, and has undergone surgery.
Family members said Hernandez and his wife had sold tamales on the same street corner for approximately 20 years to support their close-knit family. His recovery is expected to take several months.
According to Hernandez’s family, the unidentified driver was using a cell phone at the time of the collision. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
