Arlita Joiner hurt after disabled Ford Fusion struck near Armorel

ARMOREL, AR, (May 12, 2026) – A three-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning near Armorel in Mississippi County left one person dead and three others injured, including Brookland resident Arlita A. Joiner, according to Arkansas State Police.

Troopers responded shortly after 5 a.m. to the intersection of Highway 18 and Highway 312 following reports of a serious crash involving multiple vehicles.

Investigators said a 2015 Ford Fusion allegedly failed to yield while making a left turn and entered the path of an eastbound GMC Acadia. The impact disabled the Ford in the roadway.

Authorities said a 2026 Honda CR-V driven by 36-year-old Arlita Joiner then struck the disabled Fusion.

The driver of the Ford Fusion sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet publicly identified the deceased victim.

Joiner suffered injuries in the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. A juvenile passenger riding in her Honda CR-V was also injured and hospitalized. The 25-year-old driver of the GMC Acadia sustained injuries as well and was taken for medical care.

Arkansas State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Every year, millions of people are injured in traffic collisions throughout the United States, many suffering serious and long-term effects. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that approximately 2.44 million people were injured in motor vehicle crashes nationwide in 2023.

As investigators work to determine the cause and liability associated with this collision, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, stressed the importance of conducting an independent investigation.

“In addition to the extensive efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can re-examine the scene, speak with witnesses again, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and texting records from the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is critical in situations such as these, and families should make certain that all evidence is preserved and reviewed promptly,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, injured victims may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious crash can place enormous emotional and financial strain on victims and their families, affecting work, finances, and everyday life.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim because legal counsel can negotiate directly with insurance companies on behalf of the client,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies often attempt to resolve claims quickly for far less than their actual value. An attorney will fight to ensure that victims are treated fairly and receive the compensation they deserve,” he added.
