DPS: April Marie Green Died After Karnes County Head-On Wreck

KARNES COUNTY, TX — June 25, 2026 — A 40-year-old Poth woman was killed Thursday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 181 in Karnes County, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed.

The crash occurred at approximately 8 a.m. near Hobson Road. April Marie Green was traveling southbound in a Chevrolet Tahoe when a northbound Jeep Cherokee, driven by a 23-year-old man, allegedly lost control and crossed into the southbound lanes. The two vehicles collided head-on.

Green was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the Jeep’s driver has not been publicly released, and details regarding his condition following the crash were not immediately disclosed by authorities.

The Texas DPS has opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. No further information has been released at this time.

HEAD-ON ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

While head-on collisions account for only about 2 percent of all crashes in the United States, they are responsible for more than 10 percent of all crash-related fatalities, making them among the deadliest types of road incidents.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, has noted that driver error is the most common underlying cause of such crashes. Contributing factors can include speeding, drunk driving, distracted driving, poor road design, and driver disorientation — all of which authorities will examine as part of their investigation.

Bond has stressed that in cases like this, an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney is critical to protecting the rights of the victim’s family.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the victim must be assured that evidence is reviewed efficiently,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “An attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash and has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct driver background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a victim’s family during this difficult time, while protecting the person’s legal rights and best interests.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of April Marie Green may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim in connection with this incident. Surviving family members of wrongful death victims have the right to seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will remain closely updated on the official investigation and work diligently to ensure that the family’s best interests are fully protected. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”
