MONROE, Mich. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run that critically injured two pedestrians late on June 21.
A vehicle struck Anthony Keister, 40, of Monroe, while he crossed North Dixie Highway near the Interstate 75 corridor around 9:44 p.m. The impact also seriously injured a 40-year-old woman from Monroe who was walking.
Deputies said both victims were hit near the border of the center turn lane and thrown to the pavement.
First responders transported the victims to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital. Both remained in critical condition Sunday, officials confirmed.
Investigators said a blue four-door Ford sedan fled the scene and left behind its driver’s side mirror. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was being driven erratically before the accident occurred.
The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to call its traffic services division.
