NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A 51-year-old Murfreesboro woman died on Sunday morning as the result of a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 24. The collision happened at around 4 a.m. near Bell Road.
An accident occurred between a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek and a 2003 Honda Accord traveling east, according to police. Both drivers fled the scene, and officers later found evidence of alcohol involvement in both vehicles.
Angela Dawn Loupe was driving a Nissan Sentra and slowing down to avoid the initial collision. A 28-year-old man was driving a Nissan Rogue that struck Loupe’s vehicle from behind in a second crash.
Paramedics transported Loupe to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
Police said the male driver admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash and they found an open container in his car. Officers reported that he had glossy, red eyes and slurred speech and showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests. Police charged him with vehicular homicide by intoxication, and he was released on a $25,000 bond.
The incident remains under investigation.
