EDINBURG, TX, (April 25, 2026) – A 22-year-old woman was critically injured early Saturday morning after being ejected from a vehicle in a crash involving an alleged impaired driver in Edinburg, authorities said.
According to the Edinburg Police Department, 25-year-old Andrew Rodriguez was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck at a high rate of speed on Sonoma Avenue at approximately 2:20 a.m. when he attempted a sharp turn onto Rutherford Avenue.
Police said the maneuver caused a backseat passenger to be thrown through an open window. The victim sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Rodriguez was arrested and charged with intoxication assault. The incident remains under investigation.
