Andrew Joseph Sanchez dies in Anaheim crash wreck

ANAHEIM, CA, (February 24, 2026) – A 14-year-old boy, Andrew Joseph Sanchez, was among two people killed in a multi-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Anaheim, officials said.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred after a 19-year-old driver of a silver Infiniti fled from an attempted traffic stop near Cypress Street. Police did not pursue the vehicle.

Moments later, the driver allegedly ran a red light at Lincoln Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard, causing a collision involving at least four vehicles.

Sanchez, a passenger in the Infiniti, and a 70-year-old man driving a Toyota Camry were both killed. Three others were critically injured and transported to a hospital.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Each year, hundreds of deaths and tens of thousands of injuries are attributed to red-light running crashes across the United States. In 2023, 1,086 fatalities were linked to such incidents.

The increase in traffic-related deaths is largely tied to driver behavior, including excessive speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving—particularly due to cellphone use. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 8,055 fatalities in motor vehicle crashes during the first quarter of 2025.

While investigators continue to determine the cause and liability of this crash, Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, highlighted the need for an independent review.

“In addition to police investigations, an attorney can re-examine witness accounts, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone records of the at-fault party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Prompt action is crucial in these cases to ensure all critical evidence is preserved and properly evaluated.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Andrew Joseph Sanchez may have the right to file a wrongful death claim. Families in such cases may seek compensation for emotional suffering, loss of companionship, and other damages.

“We understand that losing a loved one brings both emotional pain and financial strain,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal. “Those who have lost someone due to negligence should seek legal counsel to pursue the justice they deserve.”

“Insurance providers may attempt to offer minimal settlements or deny claims. An experienced attorney can help protect your rights and ensure fair treatment.”
