Ana Salcedo Jimenez dies in Fresno CA crash; DUI suspected

FRESNO, CA (April 03, 2026) – A 44-year-old woman was killed Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash caused by a driver running a red light in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ana Salcedo Jimenez, of Fresno.

Investigators said a Ford Expedition was traveling on Clovis Avenue when the driver entered the intersection at North Avenue against a red light at approximately 6:30 p.m. The vehicle collided with a westbound Mercedes-Benz CLA250.

Jimenez, who was a passenger in the Expedition, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Expedition sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Authorities said the Mercedes-Benz driver was allegedly under the influence at the time of the crash and was booked into county jail.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Each year, hundreds of fatalities and tens of thousands of injuries occur due to drivers running red lights across the United States. In 2023, 1,086 people lost their lives in crashes involving red-light violations. About half of those victims were pedestrians, bicyclists, or occupants of other vehicles struck by drivers who failed to stop. Additionally, more than 135,000 people were injured in such crashes, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

While authorities continue to determine liability in this case, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation.

“In addition to the thorough work carried out by law enforcement, an attorney can re-examine key witnesses, review surveillance footage from the crash site, and obtain phone and text records of the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

Time is a critical factor in cases like this, and it is essential that the victim’s family ensures that all evidence is preserved and reviewed promptly.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family members of Ana Salcedo Jimenez may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“We understand that the loss of a loved one is not only emotionally devastating but can also create financial hardship,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal.

“If a loved one has died due to another party’s negligence, it is important to contact an experienced wrongful death attorney to obtain the guidance necessary to pursue justice.”
