Sheriff’s Office: Amando Dinzey Hurt in Palm Beach Hit-and-Run

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (February 28, 2026) — A 48-year-old Port St. Lucie man was critically injured Saturday in a violent crash at a busy Palm Beach County intersection, authorities said.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a southbound vehicle failed to slow for a red light at Forest Hill Boulevard and Military Trail and struck the rear of another vehicle that was stopped in the center lane.

Deputies said the impact pushed both vehicles through the intersection. The driver of the striking vehicle fled east on foot before law enforcement arrived.

Amando Dinzey, who was driving the stationary vehicle, suffered critical injuries. A passenger in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation remains active as deputies work to identify and locate the fleeing driver.

HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION

Leaving the scene of a crash is a criminal offense, and data indicates that approximately 11 percent of all traffic collisions involve a hit-and-run driver. In many instances, motorists attempt to avoid responsibility by fleeing, but criminal charges typically follow once they are identified.

Attorney Candice Bond stressed the importance of a timely and independent investigation to safeguard a victim’s rights. “Access to appropriate investigative resources is critical when handling a hit-and-run accident and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Factors such as roadway conditions, traffic signal visibility, and lighting must be thoroughly evaluated. These steps are essential in helping someone injured by a hit-and-run driver pursue justice and secure the financial compensation they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, a victim may have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, noted that the physical and emotional strain following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting family life, employment, financial stability, and overall well-being.

“It is crucial for injured individuals to retain legal representation when pursuing a personal injury claim, as an attorney can negotiate directly with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance carriers frequently attempt to pressure victims into accepting quick settlements that do not reflect the true value of their claims. An attorney will strongly advocate for their client to ensure they are treated fairly and receive proper compensation,” he added.
