Alyssa Michelle-Rose Moody Dies at Hwy 79 Crash Site in Pinson

PINSON, AL, (August 12, 2026) – A 24-year-old Trafford woman was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Pinson, Jefferson County.

Alyssa Michelle-Rose Moody was identified as the woman killed in the collision. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the fatal crash occurred around 8:49 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 79 and Bethel Road.

Moody, who was driving one of the vehicles involved, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:13 a.m.

No further details about the wreck, including whether anyone else was injured or what caused the collision, have been released.

FATAL TWO-VEHICLE CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), there were 33,654 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2018, resulting in 36,560 deaths. This equated to 11.2 deaths per 100,000 people and 1.13 deaths per 100 million miles traveled.
