TULARE, CA. — A collision between two motorcycles and an SUV on Sunday afternoon along Highway 198 claimed three lives, including that of 62-year-old Alvin Ince of Strathmore, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. east of Mehrten Drive when the driver of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, traveling westbound, suddenly swerved right and attempted a U-turn into the path of oncoming westbound traffic. Two motorcycles—a 2000 Harley Davidson and a 2007 Harley Davidson—struck the left side of the Jeep.
Both motorcyclists were ejected and suffered fatal injuries. Ince was riding one of the motorcycles. The 25-year-old Visalia driver of the Jeep was also killed in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision. No determination about potential charges has been announced.
