Alvin Ince dies in Tulare County motorcycle crash, authorities say

TULARE, CA. — A collision between two motorcycles and an SUV on Sunday afternoon along Highway 198 claimed three lives, including that of 62-year-old Alvin Ince of Strathmore, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. east of Mehrten Drive when the driver of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, traveling westbound, suddenly swerved right and attempted a U-turn into the path of oncoming westbound traffic. Two motorcycles—a 2000 Harley Davidson and a 2007 Harley Davidson—struck the left side of the Jeep.

Both motorcyclists were ejected and suffered fatal injuries. Ince was riding one of the motorcycles. The 25-year-old Visalia driver of the Jeep was also killed in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision. No determination about potential charges has been announced.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Motorcycles provide minimal protection in collisions, making even low-impact crashes potentially fatal for riders. Motorists should exercise particular caution around these vulnerable road users—maintaining ample space, reducing speed at intersections, and double-checking before turning. Although motorcycles represent just 3% of registered vehicles in the United States, the National Safety Council reports they accounted for 15.5% of all traffic fatalities and 3.4% of all injuries in 2023.

“Motorcycle riders remain the most vulnerable road users since they lack protective features like airbags or reinforced structures,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes necessary to determine the sequence of events. These comprehensive resources are essential for helping clients obtain appropriate financial compensation for damages or losses resulting from a collision,” Bond, an experienced accident attorney, told Accident Injury News.

Bond emphasized that in such cases, conducting an independent investigation through a seasoned attorney is crucial to protect the victim’s family’s rights.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation’s outcome, the family of Alvin Ince may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members in such cases can seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following this catastrophic accident.

“The emotional trauma and grief can be completely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“A wrongful death attorney will monitor the official investigation and help ensure that the victim’s legal rights and best interests are protected.”
