MSP: Allen Dale Wirgau hurt, struck by Jeep in Wright County

BUFFALO, MN, (April 28, 2026) – A 61-year-old bicyclist was injured Tuesday afternoon in a collision involving an SUV in Buffalo, Wright County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP), Allen Dale Wirgau was struck by a 2015 Jeep Cherokee at approximately 4:58 p.m. at the intersection of 3rd Avenue Northwest and Highway 55. Emergency responders transported Wirgau to Buffalo Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials have not released additional details regarding the condition of the driver or factors leading up to the incident. The crash remains under active investigation by authorities.

BICYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Bicyclists such as Mr. Wirgau are protected under various traffic laws, yet they remain vulnerable to serious injuries on the road.

According to the National Safety Council, nearly 100,000 cyclists are injured each year in motor vehicle-related crashes. These incidents frequently occur when drivers are speeding, distracted, inattentive, or fail to yield to bicyclists.

Candice Bond, an experienced bicycle accident attorney, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation promptly to preserve key evidence in cases like this.

“Having the proper resources is essential when examining a bicycle accident and proving negligence by another party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a National Legal Analyst for Accident Injury News.

“In some cases, an accident reconstruction team is required to determine exactly what occurred. These efforts are critical in helping victims pursue compensation for damages or losses following a crash,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Allen Dale Wirgau may have the option to pursue a personal injury claim. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious injury can bring significant stress and disruption to many areas of life, including work, finances, and family responsibilities.

“While no financial recovery can undo a serious injury, it is essential that victims understand their legal rights and the compensation they may be entitled to,” Formica said. “The injured party in this crash may be eligible to seek damages for medical costs, future treatment, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
