Alisa Gillen killed in two-vehicle crash in Henry County

HENRY, IL, (September 22, 2026) – Alisa Gillen, 56, of the Galva area, died Tuesday after being involved in a two-vehicle crash in Henry County, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash occurred at approximately 5:48 p.m. near Illinois Route 34 and 1850 East.

Gillen was transported to OSF Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kewanee following the collision, where she was later pronounced dead.

The other driver involved in the crash was evaluated at the scene and released.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Henry County Coroner’s Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Numerous factors contribute to the increase in traffic fatalities, with driver behavior among the key concerns, including speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and distracted driving, particularly cellphone use. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 8,055 people were killed in motor vehicle collisions during the first quarter of 2025.

While the cause of the crash and liability remain under investigation, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said an independent investigation by a seasoned attorney is imperative.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, review any surveillance video from the crash scene, and obtain phone and texting records from the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this one, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed promptly and efficiently.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the victim’s family may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand what families are forced to endure, and protecting their rights is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will monitor the official investigation and help make sure their legal rights and best interests are protected,” Formica added.
