ROCKFORD, Ill. – Rockford Police reported the arrest of a suspect in a hit-and-run that injured a teenage bicycle rider last month.
The accident occurred around 6 p.m. on June 20. Police said 15-year-old Alice Hunt crossed the intersection at N. 2nd and Ethel Avenue when a vehicle struck her.
Surveillance cameras caught the crash on video. The footage showed a blue sedan running a stoplight before hitting Hunt. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Hunt suffered a fractured tibia, and she needed stitches on her right arm. She received medical treatment at an area hospital following the accident.
Police identified a 32-year-old Rockford man as the suspect. Officers arrested him on Tuesday morning at his residence. The suspect faces charges for failure to report an accident involving personal injury and driving on a suspended license. He also had outstanding warrants for DUI and domestic battery.
Police booked the man into the Winnebago County Jail.
