ABILENE, TX, (May 15, 2026) – A Royse City man was injured early Friday morning in a crash involving a Toyota Corolla and an all-terrain vehicle near Abilene that also claimed the lives of two other men.
According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on State Highway 36 near County Road 228 in Callahan County. Investigators said a Polaris Ranger side-by-side entered the highway from a field west of the roadway and was traveling south when it was struck by a southbound Toyota Corolla.
Officials said the occupants of the ATV, a 31-year-old Abilene resident and a 29-year-old man from Clyde, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Alfonso Martinez IV, 42, of Royse City, sustained unspecified injuries in the collision. He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center North in Abilene before being airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock for additional treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
