Alexis Witt Seriously Injured in Alleged DUI Crash Florida

PASCO, FL, (May 18, 2026) – A four-vehicle crash on U.S. 19 in Pasco County left Alexis Noel Witt, 24, seriously injured and resulted in one fatality, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. Monday just north of Little Road. Investigators determined that a northbound Toyota Camry rear-ended a Mazda before sideswiping a Ford SUV. The impact forced the Ford across the grassy median into southbound traffic, where it collided head-on with a Hyundai SUV.

Alexis Witt, a passenger in the Ford SUV, suffered catastrophic injuries in the collision and was transported for emergency medical treatment.

The 22-year-old female driver of the Ford also sustained two severely broken legs and was hospitalized.

Authorities confirmed that the 41-year-old driver of the Hyundai was transported to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Mazda was not reported injured.

Witnesses stated the driver of the Toyota Camry briefly stopped before fleeing the scene. Troopers later located and apprehended the driver approximately 14 miles away in Hernando County, where he displayed signs of alleged heavy impairment.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Impaired driving remains a persistent threat on Florida’s roadways, and officials continue to emphasize responsible driving behavior. DUI violations are tracked through the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ Uniform Traffic Citation system, helping authorities monitor enforcement trends and identify high-risk areas.

Despite ongoing efforts, impaired driving continues to contribute to serious and fatal crashes, underscoring the need for stronger enforcement, public education campaigns, and community-based prevention programs aimed at reducing alcohol- and drug-related incidents.

“Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or kills another person,” explained Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

She added, “Separate from criminal charges, a victim’s family may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

An injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often seek a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” he added.
