Alberto Viveros Piedra dies after Anaheim wreck crash

ANAHEIM, CA, (March 31, 2026) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Anaheim claimed the life of 70-year-old Alberto Viveros Piedra of Orange, authorities said.

According to police, the crash occurred when a 19-year-old driver of a silver Infiniti sedan, who had been speeding and driving erratically near Cypress Street, fled from an attempted traffic stop. Officers did not pursue the vehicle.

Shortly after, the Infiniti driver allegedly ran a red light at Lincoln Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard, triggering a collision involving at least four vehicles.

Viveros, who was driving a red Toyota Camry, died at the scene. A 14-year-old passenger in the Infiniti was also killed. The Infiniti driver and two teenage passengers were hospitalized in critical condition.

A GoFundMe page has been created to assist Viveros’ family with funeral expenses.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Each year, hundreds of fatalities and tens of thousands of injuries occur due to drivers running red lights across the United States. In 2023, 1,086 people lost their lives in crashes involving red-light violations.

A number of factors contribute to the rise in traffic-related deaths, with driver behavior being a primary cause. This includes speeding, impaired driving due to alcohol or drugs, and distracted driving—especially involving mobile phone use. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 8,055 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes during the first quarter of 2025.

As authorities continue to examine the cause and liability of this crash, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of an independent investigation.

“Along with the efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can revisit witness statements, review surveillance footage from the crash site, and secure phone and text records of the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is critical in cases like these, and it is essential that the victim’s family ensures evidence is preserved and analyzed promptly.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family members of Alberto Viveros may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages resulting from a tragic accident.

“We recognize that the loss of a loved one brings both emotional devastation and financial hardship,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal. “If your loved one has died due to another party’s negligence, it is important to seek legal guidance to secure the justice you deserve.”

“Insurance companies may attempt to minimize payouts or deny claims altogether. Having an attorney ensures your rights are safeguarded and that you receive fair compensation.”
