Alan Kissell dies after pickup strikes tractor in Hebron crash: OSHP

HEBRON, OH – April 15, 2026 – A 77-year-old man died Wednesday night following a hit-and-run crash involving a tractor and a pickup truck in Hebron, Ohio, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

Authorities said a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound on State Route 79 failed to maintain proper distance and struck an International Harvester Model 584 tractor near North Maple Drive at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The tractor operator, identified as Alan Kissell of Newark, was transported to Licking Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators said the pickup driver fled the scene on foot following the crash. A suspect, a 52-year-old man from Des Moines, Iowa, was later located and arrested. Additional details regarding charges were not immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation by OSHP.

HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION NEEDED

In many hit-and-run cases, drivers may attempt to avoid responsibility by fleeing the scene, but once identified, they face criminal prosecution under the law.

Statistics show that hit-and-run crashes occur frequently across U.S. roadways, with more than one such incident happening every minute.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, stressed the importance of an immediate independent investigation to protect victims’ rights.

“Proper resources are critical when investigating hit-and-run crashes to establish negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“Elements such as road conditions, visibility, and lighting must be carefully reviewed and analyzed,” she added.

These investigative steps are essential in helping families who have lost loved ones in such incidents pursue justice and fair compensation.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Following the investigation, the family of Alan Kissell may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families in such cases may seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and the impact of losing a loved one in a sudden tragedy.

“The emotional distress following a fatal crash can be overwhelming for families,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. “It is important that families understand their rights and have proper legal representation. A wrongful death attorney can closely monitor the investigation and help ensure their interests are protected throughout the legal process.”
