Alan Hensiak killed in Grant County SUV accident, sheriff says

GRANT, WI, (March 27, 2026) – A 79-year-old Union Grove man died after being struck by an SUV in Grant County on March 27, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Alan Hensiak was turning onto northbound Highway 151 from Hill Climb Road when his pickup truck struck a concrete barrier. After exiting his vehicle, Hensiak was hit by an SUV traveling in the same lane.

Hensiak was transported to MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque and later airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City, where he succumbed to his injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The Sheriff’s Office is expected to release a comprehensive report once the investigation into the crash that claimed Mr. Hensiak’s life is complete.

In the meantime, Candice Bond emphasized that incidents like this often require an independent investigation by a qualified law firm to safeguard evidence and protect the victim family’s rights.

“In addition to the thorough work conducted by law enforcement, an attorney can revisit key witnesses, review available surveillance footage, and secure phone and texting records of the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “By acting as an advocate, an attorney can help guide a grieving family through this difficult time while ensuring their legal rights and best interests are protected.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Alan Hensiak may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of victims in fatal accidents can seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“We understand the challenges families face after such devastating losses, and protecting their rights is crucial,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney can monitor the official investigation and help make sure the family’s best interests are represented. Surviving family members are entitled to pursue damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.”
