Alacia Cruz-Dudley tragically dies in Ouachita County solo-vehicle accident

RURAL OUACHITA, Ark. — State troopers are investigating a fatal wreck that occurred late June 20 along State Highway 24.

Alacia Cruz-Dudley, 18, of Camden, rode as a passenger in a 2017 Kia Forte. Shortly before 11 p.m., the vehicle veered off the roadway near milepost 11. The car exited the westbound lane and struck a tree along the shoulder, according to Arkansas State Police.

Emergency responders pronounced Cruz-Dudley dead at the scene. Her body was released to the Ouachita County Coroner’s Office.

The 18-year-old driver, also from Camden, survived the accident and was treated at Ouachita County Medical Center.

Police said weather conditions were clear and the pavement was dry at the time of the incident which remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Arkansas recorded 4,089 traffic fatalities between 2016-2022 and ranks fourth nationally in motor vehicle fatality rates, according to the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement. Crashes have increased 18% since 2015, with growing concerns about non-motorist fatalities, speeding, and aggressive driving.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all potential contributing factors that are considered and examined,” stated Candice Bond, an experienced attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Sometimes, an accident reconstruction team is required to piece together what happened. All these resources are essential in helping clients receive financial compensation for damages or a loss after an accident,” added Bond.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Alacia Cruz-Dudley could pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Bond.

“We understand the hardships that families face, and it’s crucial to protect their rights. A wrongful death lawyer will keep abreast of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are safeguarded.”
