Aiden Samuel Rodriguez charged in San Antonio pursuit collision

SAN ANTONIO, TX, (April 06, 2026) – A woman sustained serious injuries in a crash allegedly caused by a driver fleeing from law enforcement on April 6 in San Antonio, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Authorities said troopers attempted to stop a gray Infiniti with an improperly displayed license plate near East Drexel and South New Braunfels avenues. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Aiden Samuel Rodriguez, allegedly refused to stop and accelerated away.

During the pursuit, Rodriguez reportedly ran multiple stop signs while traveling northbound at a high rate of speed before colliding with two other vehicles at the intersection of South Walters and East Commerce streets.

One of the drivers involved was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center with severe injuries, including neck trauma, broken hands, lower back injuries, and a traumatic brain injury.

Rodriguez has been charged with collision involving serious bodily injury. Officials noted he was previously involved in another evading incident in 2025.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

In 2022, there were 577 deaths linked to police pursuits in the United States, with hundreds more individuals suffering injuries, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This marked the highest number of fatalities ever recorded and reflected a 40 percent increase since 2019.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, stressed that it is essential to retain legal counsel to conduct an independent investigation into the crash to secure evidence and protect an injured victim’s rights.

“Time is critical in cases like this, and it is important that evidence is examined promptly and thoroughly,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “An attorney can serve as a strong advocate, helping guide victims through a difficult period while ensuring their legal rights and best interests are fully protected.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victim injured in this crash may have the legal right to pursue a personal injury claim. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious injury can bring overwhelming stress, affecting every aspect of life, including family responsibilities, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“While financial compensation cannot undo the harm caused by a severe injury, it is important that victims understand their legal rights and the remedies available to them,” Formica said. “An injured individual may be entitled to pursue damages such as medical expenses, ongoing treatment costs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
