BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — The Suffolk County Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that happened May 11 at 5th Avenue and Candlewood Road. Officials said a car struck a motorcycle while turning into a parking lot.
Jose Morales, 62, suffered fatal injuries in the accident. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Authorities said that just before noon an 18-year-old woman from Bay Shore drove a 2007 Honda Accord northbound on 5th Avenue. She attempted to turn left into a parking lot near Candlewood Road when she collided with a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja traveling southbound.
Authorities impounded both vehicles for safety checks. Officials urge anyone with information to contact the Suffolk County Police Third Squad.
The investigation remains ongoing.
