WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Trevor Stewart, 38, following a fatal accident that happened May 10 on Saraville Road. Officials said his truck ran over a man in a driveway, causing fatal injuries.
Deputies responded just before midnight and found the victim lying on the ground. Emergency crews airlifted him to a regional trauma center, but his condition worsened. The victim was airlifted to Harrisburg Medical Center, where he died at 2 a.m. on May 11.
Investigators obtained a search warrant, collected evidence, and took Stewart into custody.
Officials charged Stewart with reckless homicide, aggravated driving under the influence, obstructing justice, and reckless conduct. He was booked into the Williamson County Jail.
The Illinois State Police assisted in the investigation. Authorities expect additional charges as the case progresses.
