SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating a vehicle accident that killed one man and injured two others on April 22.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:24 p.m. on Alabama 76 near milepost 4, less than a mile northeast of Childersburg. A 2008 Honda Accord struck a 2015 Nissan Altima, critically injuring Andy Walton, 77, a passenger in the Altima.
Walton was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The Altima driver, a 75-year-old woman from Columbiana, sustained injuries and was taken to the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital.
The driver of the Accord, a 32-year-old Vincent man, was also injured and transported to the same hospital for care. Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
