CHICAGO— Police are investigating a multiple-vehicle accident April 6 on the West Side that left two men dead and a woman critically injured.
The accident happened just after 2 a.m. at the intersection of N. Central Avenue and W. Augusta Boulevard. Authorities reported that a dark-colored sedan ran a red light while traveling east on Augusta Boulevard and collided with a southbound sedan speeding on Central Avenue. One of the sedans also struck the front end of a beige minivan.
Officials identified Laquell Collins, a 22-year-old man, as the driver of the southbound sedan. Emergency responders transported Collins to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police stated that a 36-year-old man driving the eastbound sedan also died. A 35-year-old woman in the same vehicle remains in critical condition. The 45-year-old driver of the minivan was not hurt.
The Chicago police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate the wreck.
