DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C.— A head-on accident on NC Highway 109 near Jolly Road left several individuals seriously injured on April 9, according to officials.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol stated the accident occurred around 8:50 p.m. when a vehicle attempted a left turn and failed to yield to an oncoming car. The vehicles collided, resulting in significant damage and multiple injuries.
Authorities identified the driver as Ashley Carroll, a 43-year-old woman from Davidson County. Troopers reported a strong odor of alcohol coming from Carroll’s vehicle and noted her glassy eyes at the scene. They also discovered an open alcohol container under the driver’s seat.
Among the injured were a 14-year-old girl and the driver of the oncoming car, both of whom suffered serious injuries. Emergency crews transported them to the hospital for treatment.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed Carroll now faces charges including driving under the influence, failure to yield, and possession of an open alcoholic container.
